How to start off in digital scrapbooking

Digital scrapbooking can be really handy and fun, plus it's a lot quicker to do as well. And you can undo your mistakes with a push of a button. You can e-mail your digital scrapbook, providing it isn't too big to be sent
or you can host it on your site or a free site or blog and show it to all of your friends.

The only disadvantages are that you'll have to learn how to work with photo shopping software or some piece of  scrapbook software. You'll also lose the authenticity of a paper (or traditional) scrapbook which to some people makes the transition to digital scrapbooking not desirable.

Before you get started with digital scrapbooking you'd want to get familiar with photo shop, or your own preferred scrapbooking software. And you'll need to have your photos in the digital format. As soon as you become a tad more familiar with the controls and options you have available you'll find that it really isn't that hard at all.

Don't think that you'll have to make everything yourself though, you can find pretty much every piece (like a flower or a digital stamp) online, which makes this way of scrapbooking really easy.
There are lots of sites that offer free digital scrapbooking pieces like different fonts and brushes (this is especially true for photoshop). You can even find ready made scrapbook layouts free for you to use.

When you are somewhat familiar with scrapbooking, get your photos and images that you want to use in one folder,
this makes it easier to find everything much quicker. Then you can start adding pictures and images to the digital scrapbooking project and start cutting them up and retouching them a bit.

Making the background a bit hazy can make some pictures wonderful and some scrapbooking software lets you do that really easy, as well as changing the size and shape of the pictures. Which is a wonderful benefit as well.

In traditional scrapbooking you're stuck to the size of your pictures, but with digital scrapbooking you can change te size of the pictures in no time, giving you endless possibillities and gives you a way to incorporate some hard to find pictures in to your digital scrapbook.

Be sure press save every couple of minutes, because you don't want to have wasted half anhour of work when all of the sudden your pc reboots or the power falls out. Simple, but wise advise. It could save you hours upon hours of work.
